An dog that cant be trained...?

My dog has been a lost cause for a long time.
We have tried numerous training methods and even professional trainers.
I have since had a baby and his uncontrollable barking, jumping, and biting can not be tolerated anymore.
I really don't want to have to use a shock collar, but clicker, citronella, ultrasonic.. didn't work.

We are all worried he could kill or severely harm my daughter. He has already stepped on her, I couldn't hold him back. He jumps and constantly barks at me when I hold her, jumps on me. He jump on her carrier hitting her.

No matter who comes over to the house he jumps all over them and barks the whole time. We have tried taking him into other rooms, but he is too strong. He is a GSD/Coonhound mix.

I live with my parents momentarily, he is my 20 year old brothers dog, and there is no option of finding him (dog) a new home. My brother refuses to deal with the dog, or even care for it.
It's called correction doesn't work.
I have tried those collars.

I don't mean this to sound mean, but surely your daughter's safety needs to come first. The barking and jumping wouldn't concern me so much, but when you say "uncontrollable biting" that sends up a red flag. As a mother, this is a dog I would want no where near my daughter.

I don't see why you have an adversion to a shock collar, but will consider putting your daughter at risk by being around an uncontrollable dog.

Bottom line, if it is your parents house, and you and your brother are living there, you need to abide by their rules. If your brother won't deal with the dog, talk to your parents and have them tell him the dog has to go, or be better behaved. If this doesn't work, then for your daughter's safety, you need to find someplace else to live.

I know you say it isn't your dog, but someone has to step up and take control. It does sound like you are trying, but it might be better for the dog and your child to find a new home for the dog with an owner who can handle him. If he doesn't even care for the dog...then why would he care?

Edit: On a willfull dog, the ultrasonic, cintronella, and clicker methods just aren't going to work. I do believe a shock collar could, if used properly. I think the other posters talking about wearing some energy out of the dog with long walks would probably help.

Try a new trainer...and if it still doesn't work, I'd risk having my brother pissed off for a while rather than my daughter being harmed. Good Luck!
