Is there some kind of collar that would shock my dog if he tries to run out the door?

I have a small maltipoo and every time we open the front door he tries to run out. We live on a pretty busy road and hes been hit by a car already once. We are always careful and the only time he gets out is if we have visitors and they dont shut the door fast enough. My husband is sick of having to go catch him and has resorted to just letting him be and one of the neighbors brings him back. If we can't figure out how to stop him from running, we probally will end up giving him away. Is there a collar that would shock him if he tries to run out. We already have one of those ultrasonic collars that goes off when he approaches the door, but he just raisies his ears and goes for it. I need a collar that will shock him enough to stop him in his tracks. any ideas?

Gosh, how about actually training him not to bolt out the door? Put him on a leash and step on the end of it. Now open the door a bit. As soon as the dog moves toward the door, quickly close it. Repeat until he no longer tries to move toward the door when it's opened. At that point, reward him for staying put. Repeat several times. Next, gradually open the door further and further, rewarding the dog if he stays back and closing the door if he moves toward it.

When you do want to go out with him, wait until he is staying put when the door is opened, then reward him and give him whatever word/phrase you want to use to allow him to go out with you (e.g. "okay" or "outside").

Until you've reached the point where the dog will reliably wait for permission before going out the door, keep him on a leash when people are coming or going so that you can prevent him from getting out.
